NAB Lahore Tackling Real Estate Fraud

Lahore’s Fight Against Real Estate Fraud: NAB and ACE at the Forefront

In a significant move to combat the rampant fraud in Lahore’s housing and investment sectors, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) conducted open court sessions last Friday. These sessions, led by NAB Lahore Director General Amjad Majeed Aulakh, provided a platform for victims of various scams to voice their grievances directly to the authorities.

A Day of Revelations and Resolutions

The open court was notably attended by individuals affected by some of Lahore’s most notorious housing and financial scams.

Victims from the Pak-Arab Housing scam, Palm Vista Housing scam, Al-Rehman Garden, Al-Haram Garden, Khayaban-i-Ameen Housing, Al-Jaleel Garden, Abuzar Housing Society, and the Government Employees Cooperative Housing Society were present.

Additionally, financial fraud victims from schemes like Lasani Chicks, Double Shah, and ISMMART also attended, seeking justice and resolution for their losses.

Detailed Accounts and Actions Taken

Pak-Arab Housing Scam:

Director General Aulakh highlighted that 2,300 victims had been compensated a total of Rs 1.67 billion, with an additional Rs540 million recently recovered. This significant financial restitution marks a pivotal moment in redressal efforts.

Palm-Vista Housing Project:

An official inquiry has been launched to address grievances from 2018 claimants. The victims were misled through fraudulent membership forms, prompting NAB to prioritize actions against the administration to swiftly mitigate the victims’ financial losses.

Al-Rehman Garden and Other Societies:

Prompt and swift actions are being taken against the administration of Al-Rehman Garden, with positive outcomes anticipated. Similar immediate directives were issued for the Al-Jalil Garden, and complaints against Khayaban-i-Amin were also addressed, focusing on ownership rights not being granted despite payments being made years ago.

High-Stakes Financial Frauds:

In the case of Lasani Chicks, NAB Lahore has filed a reference in the accountability court for a staggering Rs4.1 billion, which is currently under trial. The Double Shah case also saw immediate redressal orders issued to support the victims.

Abu Zar Housing Society:

The administration managed to obtain a court stay against NAB’s actions to sell properties of the accused party. However, NAB Lahore has proactively filed for an early hearing to expedite the case.

Conclusion: A Stronghold Against Corruption

The dedication shown by NAB and ACE in addressing these issues underscores their commitment to eradicating corruption and restoring faith in Lahore’s housing and financial sectors. The substantial recoveries and ongoing court actions reflect a robust strategy to protect citizens from fraudulent schemes.
